There are many conditions related to gynaecological problems that can be treated by minimally invasive non-surgical methods.
1. Uterine Fibroid Treatment
Uterine fibroids are non cancerous (benign) growths present in almost one -quarter of all women. Many of these women can have problems like excessive bleeding during periods, pain, urinary problems etc. The only option available earlier was surgery with removal of the uterus being the commonest option. Uterine Fibroid Embolisation (UFE) is an accepted treatment. Blocking the blood supply to fibroids shrinks them and takes away the problems associated with the fibroids, avoiding major surgery. This technique is approved by the National Health Service of UK, and is commonly used across the world. Similar techniques can be used for a condition known as adenomyosis which causes pain and excessive bleeding in many women. Read more about UFE here.
2. Fallopian Tube Recanalisation
Infertility is often caused by blockage of the fallopian tubes. Fallopian tubes are reopened under X-Ray guidance using a tube and wire. This is a procedure done with very little discomfort, and does not require admission. The success rate is high for this simple procedure.
3. Benign Breast Tumours
Breast tumours that are not cancerous but cause pain or unsightly lumps can now be treated easily by techniques of Tumour Ablation that have been shown to be less painful, avoid surgical scars and are done with a small "pinhole."
